The average price of a home in the district’s most expensive street has risen by nearly £20,000 in the last year – despite the housing market downturn, according to new research.

Nesfield Road, off Denton Road, Ilkley, has cemented its place as the district’s most expensive street, with house values now averaging £1,019,600 compared to £1,000,200 last year.

The leafy street, which boasts a handful of Edwardian properties and leads to Ilkley Golf Club, also ranks as the fourth most expensive street in the Yorkshire and Humber region, according to a study by housing information website Mouse-price.

The Ilkley area dominates the list of the Bradford district’s most expensive streets, with the spa town’s monopoly of the top ten only broken by Cliffe Drive, Rawdon (£913,300) and Clarence Drive, Menston (£768,700).

The statistics emerged after the Telegraph & Argus asked Mouseprice for a breakdown of the top ten most expensive streets in all 23 Bradford postcode areas and the 12 postcode areas around the immediate periphery that come under Leeds, Kirklees, Halifax or Wakefield.

Zipporah Morrison Baker, of Mouseprice, said: “Interestingly, all but one of the most expensive streets in the area are in the LS29 postcode.

“Both Nesfield Road and Cliffe Drive also appear in the Yorkshire and Humber top ten list at numbers four and nine respectively.”

“Nesfield Road is located next to Ilkley Golf Club – the green space and picturesque surroundings clearly contribute to the desirability of the location.

“Other reasons for high prices would include good access to nearby town and city centres, the size and elegance of the properties being offered, and the quality of the schools and facilities in the area.”

Other streets in Ilkley to have made the district’s top ten are Hebers Ghyll Drive (£829,900), Panorama Drive (£801,400), Langbar Road (£793,900) and Ghyll Royd (£784,600).
