A half marathon will be staged in Bradford this autumn after the success of a ten-mile run held last year.
The new 13.2 mile race is being held on October 17, and will be combined with a 5k fun run and two children’s races.
Bradford Council is hoping to build on last year’s Bradford City Run, which attracted 1,000 runners This year, the half marathon will take a scenic route from Centenary Square, around Thornton and Denholme, up to Sandy Lane, and back down to Lister Park.
Councillor Kris Hopkins, leader of Bradford Council, said: “The half marathon route builds on the successful event we held last year. The route is really scenic and I think people will enjoy the fact it finishes in one of our most beautiful parks.”
Councillor Anne Hawkes-worth said: “The Bradford City Run was hugely successful and enjoyed by many runners.
“As organisers we have learned a lot from the first event and aim to improve the run this year.”
The new route and distance reflects consultation after the run held last year.
