The Calendar Girls stepped out for a cause close to their hearts.
Ros Fawcett, Angela Knowles (formerly Baker), Christine Clancy, Lynda Logan and Beryl Bamforth donned outfits from the Joseph Ribkoff collection for a fashion show at Ragdoll boutique in Pudsey. Proceeds are for leukaemia and lymphoma research. The death of Angela’s husband, John Baker, from non-Hodkin’s lymphoma in 1998 inspired the women to strip off for a calendar which raised £3 million pounds for leukaemia research.
It spawned the film and smash-hit play which comes to Leeds Grand Theatre from Monday starring former East-Enders actress Letitia Dean and Loose Women star Lynda Bellingham.
The Calendar Girls’ association with Ragdoll dates back a decade.
They dressed four of the women for the world premiere of the Calendar Girls film starring Dame Helen Mirren and Julie Walters.
