Solar-powered lighting is among the options to be looked into by Ilkley Parish Council to improve the town’s skate park.
Councillors are to investigate the possibility of lighting the skate park, next to East Holmes Field, in an attempt to beat littering and graffiti.
Parish Council chairman, Councillor Alan Morrell, said one of the commonest issues raised by Ilkley Grammar School students on visits to the council chamber was the state of the skate park.
He said a low level of lighting would enable police officers to see anyone causing damage or behaving badly and he stressed that councillors were not looking into powerful floodlighting for the riverside spot.
Councillor Andrew McKie suggested that solar panels could be used to power the lighting.
