Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland – hailed as the year’s biggest cinematic experience – is coming to Bradford’s IMAX screen.
Alice In Wonderland: An IMAX 3D Experience will be screened at the National Media Museum, which is also offering visitors the chance to see photographs taken by Lewis Carroll, author of the children’s classic.
The photographs are of Alice Liddell, the girl who was the inspiration for the character of Alice.
Director Tim Burton’s visionary interpretation of the classic children’s story combines animation and spectacular special effects.
Described as a “gothic and magical journey”, it follows Alice’s return to the strange world she first encountered as a young girl after falling down a rabbit hole.
On March 6, 7, 13 and 14, the museum is holding Alice In Wonderland weekends, allowing visitors to create their own fairytale flick-book, or take a ‘hidden treasures’ tour.
Yesterday it was announced that the Odeon cinema chain had reversed its decision to boycott the movie because of plans to release it on DVD at the end of May, following talks with Disney.
Odeon had previously said this would set a new benchmark of films being released just 12 weeks after hitting cinemas.
Other cinema chains, including Vue and Cineworld, had already agreed to screen the film.
