Four Bradford actors have joined the cast of a new television drama.
Bradley Johnson, 12, Jodie McEnery, 20, and Katie Griffiths, 21, appear in Five Days, a gripping mystery set against the tensions of an urban multicultural Yorkshire landscape.
Bradley, who was in And When Did You Last See Your Father with Colin Firth, and Jodie, who has appeared in The Royal and Emmerdale, are pupils at Stage 84 in Idle. Katie, who plays Chlo in BBC1’s Waterloo Road, is a former pupil. Wibsey actor Chris Fountain, 22, is also in Five Days, partly filmed in Otley, which starts with a newborn baby abandoned in a hospital toilet.
At the same time, a trans-Pennine commuter train is halted by a suicidal jumper. The drama unfolds over the five most significant days of the police investigation into the two cases.
Former Coronation Street actress Suranne Jones stars as DC Laurie Franklin, who tries to prove a connection between the body and the baby.
Five Days, which is on BBC1 from Monday, also stars David Morrissey, Hugo Speer, Bernard Hill and Anne Reid.
“I wanted to write about Yorkshire because that’s where I live,” said Gwyneth Hughes.
“Although we see a lot of police officers in Five Days, it’s not at heart a crime series. It’s a multi-layered mystery, all the characters have a part to play in unravelling the puzzle.”
