A 21-year-old man yesterday denied causing the death of a 13-year-old Bradford girl by dangerous driving.
Gibran Hussain, of Box Tree Close, Girlington, Bradford, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared at Bradford Crown Court.
Hussain was charged with causing the death of Aanisah Rashid by dangerous driving in Haworth Road, Heaton, Bradford, on January 13 last year.
The girl died the following day.
Aanisah, a pupil at Belle Vue Girls School, was fatally injured when Hussain’s BMW 530i was in collision with a Bentley Silver Spur driven by her father, Asad, in which she was a front seat passenger.
Mr Rashid, 41, a restaurant owner, was taking Aanisah, and her 12-year-old sister Monisah, to their home, close by in Thorn Drive, Heaton, when the accident happened.
Hussain, who was wearing a light top and dark trousers, was flanked in the dock by a security officer. He spoke only to confirm his name during the hearing before Judge Jonathan Rose.
A second charge of causing death by careless driving was not put to Hussain today.
Hussain was told by Judge Rose that his trial would take place on May 24. He was granted unconditional bail until the trial.
After the accident, Aanisah was described as popular with teachers and other pupils at school, and she had many friends.
She was said, by her headmistress Margaret Platts, to be polite and pleasant, mature for her years and with a good sense of humour. Aanisah, who had four siblings, was described by neighbours as a ‘quiet, sweet girl’.
