A Bradford chef has been chosen to make it through to the final of a pub food competition.
Matthew Alsop, sous chef at the Ring O’ Bells pub, in Thornton, is one of three chefs from across the country to make it through to the final of the Great British Pub Food Awards 2010.
Mr Alsop, 28, who has been at the Thornton pub for nine months, took part in a cook-off between the three chefs two weeks ago in Surrey, and will now travel to London for the final.
Mr Alsop, along with the head chef at the Thornton pub, created a dish of pan fried medallion of halibut, with braised baby fennel, spinach linguini and a clam and tomato sauce for the competition.
He said: “The judges commented on my dish quite well, so I’m feeling confident.
“The judges must have picked from hundreds of dishes to get it down to three for the final, so getting to the final is a massive achievement in its own right.”
Mr Alsop will find out whether he has been chosen as the overall winner at a ceremony at Plaisterers Hall, on Thursday, March 11.
