Customers and staff at a Bradford chippy have raised almost £1,400 for children’s charity the NSPCC.
Profits from the 1,600 portions of chips sold during National Chip Week at Towngate Fisheries, Idle, are being donated to the charity. And more than £100 was collected in a customer donation box.
Mark Drummond, owner of the High Street shop, said: “I’m really pleased. It’s considerably higher than the amount we’ve raised in the past. I think fish and chips are so popular because they’ve always been a good value meal.
“They are nutritious too, high in protein and relatively low in fat compared to other take aways.”
