Pudsey band The Dunwell Brothers are pulling out all the stops to get their debut single into the Top 10.
The single, Elizabeth, is released on Monday and the band – fronted by brothers Joseph and David Dunwell – is using Facebook to kickstart its campaign.
They have no record company backing or support, and are financing and promoting their single themselves.
The band also includes Yeadon drummer Jonny Lamb, Lee Dawson from Brighouse who plays electric double bass, and David Hanson, from Pudsey, on lead guitar.
The Dunwells worked with Kaiser Chiefs’ Yeadon-based producer Dave Creffield, who has also worked with Embrace, on their recording.
“You can’t put us into one specific genre. I’d like to think our music reaches out to a wide range of styles and tastes,” says David.
Inspired by the Rage Against The Machine Christmas No 1 campaign, they set up a Facebook group which has gathered more than 2,000 friends in just a week.
The band need at least 4,000 sales before March 6 to be in with a chance of breaking into the Top 40 charts. Jonny Lamb says: “We are calling on supporters of local music to help us achieve our dreams.”
The lads are embarking on a ‘busking tour’ to promote the single. For more details, visit thedunwellbrothersband.co.uk.
