A Bradford man accused of murdering his nine-year-old brother appeared before a judge today.

Daniel Taylor, 20, is charged with the murder of Jackson Taylor, in Rookes Avenue, Wibsey, Bradford, last Thursday.

He is also charged with wounding his 18-year-old sister, Rachel, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

His mother and father, Louise and Tim, and another sister, sat in the public gallery as Taylor, dressed in dark blue casual trousers and a black jumper, appeared in the dock at Bradford Crown Court, flanked by two security officers.

The short-cropped blond-haired, slim defendant answered “yeah,” when he was asked to confirm his name. He stared blankly around the courtroom with his arms folded during the 13-minute hearing.

Prosecutor Thomas Klouda told the Recorder of Bradford, Judge James Stewart QC, the defendant had been charged with murder and section 18 wounding.

Taylor's barrister Abdul Iftikhar said the defendant was content that no application for bail was being made on his behalf.

Judge Stewart fixed a plea and case management hearing for June 11, with a provisional date for a five-day trial to start on September 13.

Taylor, of Richardson Avenue, Bradford, was remanded in custody.

Jackson suffered multiple stab wounds in the garden of his sister’s home in Rookes Avenue, Wibsey. Rachel was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary with a stab injury but has now been released and is back home with her family.
