Fancy yourself as a thespian? New Playmakers acting classes for the over-60s have been launched at the Delius Arts Centre, based in Bradford’s German Church on Great Horton Road. Playmakers is the brainchild of Bradford theatre enthusiast Brian Lawrence, who says: “I’ve been an active volunteer at Bradford Playhouse since the early-1990s and have had a go at most things – lighting, set design, stage managing.
“I was thrilled when Audrey Coldron agreed to come on board as the tutor.”
Audrey brings a lifetime’s experience of the theatre. She was head of theatre studies at Bretton Hall near Wakefield and has been a loyal supporter of Bradford Playhouse for 15 years, running workshops and directing plays.
“No matter what the age of the students, acting should be fun,” says Audrey. “We will cover a whole range of performance skills including movement, storytelling, song and acting techniques.”
Classes will be held on Tuesdays, from 1pm to 3pm, at the Delius Centre, starting Tuesday, March 9. At the end of the course the students will present an ensemble piece of devised theatre. For more ring Brian Lawrence on (01274) 503481.
