A Bradford church will be able to preserve its ceiling designed by famous artist William Morris after receiving a grant for more than £200,000.
The English Heritage cash will be used to restore the roof of St Clement’s in Barkerend, for another century, said the vicar, the Reverend Dale Barton.
Walls by Edward Burne-Jones, paintings by Palin, mosaics from Venice and stained glass by CE Kempe inside the 118-year-old church, will also be preserved for future generations.
Mr Barton said: “We really appreciate the support of English Heritage, their advice and now this offer of resources.
“We love the beauty of this building but heritage is not our main job and we really needed English Heritage to help us.”
