The founder of a lesbian, gay and bisexual (LBG) magazine and a North Yorkshire group to support older lesbian and gay people were among the winners at the Equity Partnership LGB Awards ceremony this evening.
Mark Michalowski, of Shout! magazine, won the award for the best individual contribution to LGB communities in Bradford, while North Yorkshire voluntary LGBT group OLGA (Older Lesbian and Gay Association) took the award for most inspiring LGB organisation.
The Equity Radio Show, on BCB 106.6fm, won the award for most inspiring Bradford LGB group while Hull Pride won the most LGB-friendly group prize.
Sue Mann won the award for Most LGB-friendly Individual for being a strong, guiding and support influence. The Telegraph & Argus and the Keighley News, nominated in the most LGB-friendly organisation category, were among 21 nominees awarded certificates at the awards at the Midland Hotel, Bradford, as part of LGBT History Month.
Equity Partnership chairman Ian Burkitt said: “I think it was a fine occasion.”
