Charlie Orr has performed his first gig – at the ripe old age of two.
The audience at the monthly acoustic night at the Comrades Club in Heckmondwike had gone along to hear headline band Rachel James, from Bolton.
But they got more than they bargained for when young Charlie, from Cleckheaton, took to the stage.
He was evidently inspired by his uncle Jamie Orr, a guitarist in the Cleckheaton band Blister Factory.
Jamie said: “Every time he sees me with my guitar he loves it. He’s not big enough for a guitar, so I got him a ukulele. He calls it his ‘Yeah Yeah’. He takes it everywhere. He’s been playing it for a couple of months.
“He’s been to all the Crown of Lights concerts. I asked if they’d let him get up to have his photograph taken. They gave him a microphone for his voice and one for his ukulele. He did his own little songs. We kept saying, ‘Come on, take a bow’ and he kept saying ‘More! More!’ In the end he did a three or four minute set.”
His mum Chelsea said: “We’ve no idea where he gets it from.”
Donal O’Driscoll, the concert organiser, said: “It was obvious that Charlie knew what the mics were for. He kept his position so the audience could hear his performance.
“When he finished he even took a bow. The audience loved it.”
