More than half of Bradford savers say the recession and low interest rates have not reduced their savings habits.
According to Barclays bank 54 per cent of local savers continued to put the same amount of money away last year, with some saving more.
The research showed that 40 per cent of Bradford savers have not had their savings habits hit by the recession and 14 per cent were saving more due mainly to better paid jobs, lower mortgage payments and not going out as much.
Just under a third of people were saving less mainly due to a shortage of cash while 14 per cent of Bradford people said they did not save anything.
Andy Wright, retail regional director for Barclays, Yorkshire said: “This research clearly demonstrates how Bradford people have reacted to the recession and perhaps changed their lifestyle in order to boost or maintain their savings.”
