Local trainees have been urged to prove they are the best in Britain by entering the UK’s biggest construction skills competition.
Last year more than 1,300 trainees took part and seven apprentices from the Yorkshire region won national awards.
SkillBuild 2010, run by Con-structionSkills, the industry’s sector skills council, will involve some of the UK’s most promising trainees battling through 14 regional heats, culminating in a national final.
Trainees from the Bradford district will be put through their paces in competitions for their main construction trade.
Russell Buckley, apprenticeship manager for ConstructionSkills in Yorkshire, said: “SkillBuild provides a platform to demonstrate the immense talent we have in the UK’s new generation of construction workers and really gives us something to be positive about in difficult times.
“It also enables both colleges and employers to showcase their commitment to training a high quality workforce.”
The deadline for SkillsBuild 2010 entries is Friday, March 19. Full details at cskills.org/skillbuild.
