Moscow State Circus The Alhambra Breathtaking balancing acts and acrobats swinging on silks were among the attractions at The Alhambra last night when The Moscow State Circus Legenda show came to town.
The award winning spectacle, inspired by the Russian mystic Grigory Rasputin, featured some of Russia’s greatest circus performers.
Rasputin’s vivid and mystical dreams provided the theme for the show. A complex club juggling act was performed with incredible, jaw dropping skill.
Acrobats who formed statues from their bodies displayed amazing strength and contorted themselves into the most unlikely of positions.
Slapstick comedy was provided by clowns Valik and Valerik, a husband and wife duo who have performed together for the last 11 years.
One tense moment cane when crossbow arrows were fired by Nataliya Popazova, landing inches away from the head of Anton Popazov, the husband she met at circus school in Moscow.
Certain acts in the programme were not included in the Alhambra show, perhaps due to space restrictions, but this did not seem to cause any disappointment to the crowd.
The Moscow State Circus Legenda is at the Alhambra for two last shows today at 5pm and 8pm. For tickets phone the Bradford Theatres box office on (01274) 432000.
