The faces of primary school staff and children have been incorporated into a wallhanging designed by parent and textile artist Christine Hughes.
Made by parents and parishioners, the work at St Winefride’s Catholic Primary School, Wibsey, took two years to complete.
“The children and staff appear as leaves on a tree,” said Christine.
“Father Keiron Walker of St Winefride’s Church suggested it and my inspiration came from a hymn and the trees along Moore Avenue.”
Headteacher Maureen Cairns said: “It is such a unique and beautiful work of art that it stops people in their tracks and they are just compelled to gaze in admiration. I am especially impressed by the way Christine drew together a team of people to bring her design to life. She really is an inspiration.”
