People in Bradford are being urged to go the extra mile by running or walking for the Sport Relief charity next month.
After the success of the 2008 event, another Sport Relief Mile is being held in Lister Park in Bradford this year.
It is being organised by Bradford Youth Development Partnership and takes place in the Manningham Park on Sunday, March 21, between 9am and 1pm.
Those wishing to sign up to complete their mile in Bradford can do so online at sportrelief.com.
Entrants can choose to do one, three or six miles to raise money for the charity, which is spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people, both at home and across the world’s poorest countries.
It costs £5 for adults, £2 for children, or £12 for a family of two adults and two children. The entry fee covers the cost of staging the event, so those taking part are encouraged to raise money in sponsorship too.
In 2008, more than 350 people took part in the Bradford event, raising a total of £7,000.
The Sport Relief weekend kicks off on Friday, March 19, with a day of fundraising at home, work and school, before a night of special Sport Relief programmes on BBC1.
Organisers of the Bradford Mile are hoping to put on entertainment in the park to make the event as fun-filled as possible, so are looking for volunteers to come forward.
