Wide-eyed children will be wowed by wizardry when Bradford Magic Circle’s president performs his last show.
Jon Harris, 41, is to step down from performing for the foreseeable future, and will give his last display of magic at the annual event hosted by the group he has headed for the last year.
The Bradford Magic Circle holds its annual Hey Presto show to help fund lectures and activities which are enjoyed by its members through the rest of the year.
Mr Harris, who performs as Jonty the Magician, has been with the group for six years.
He will take a step back from performing because of health reasons but will continue to work with the circle in a behind-the-scenes capacity.
He said: “I’ve been into magic since I was a teenager.
“I started performing for friends and then I went on to children’s parties. I enjoy doing it very much.
“I’m having to give up the children’s shows due to health reasons and I’m going to take a couple of years off from performing so the Hey Presto show will be my last for some time.”
Also performing will be the UK Magic Circle’s Young Magician of the Year, Huddersfield-based Michael Jordan, who is one half of High Jinx, a duo he formed with his sister Siobhan.
The 18-year-old animation student plans to make a career from magic and will tour with High Jinx in the summer.
He said: “I’ve been with the Bradford circle for about five years. I know all the people well and I have learned a lot from them.
“I enjoy doing the show and it’s great coming back to the area and seeing my friends in Bradford.”
The Hey Presto show will be at Bingley Arts Centre on Saturday, March 20.
Also performing will be Patricia Duncan and Junior World Magic Champion Stephen Williams.
Tickets, priced £6 for adults or £5 for concessions, are available from the Bradford Theatres box office by phoning (01274) 432000.
