Two armed-robbery suspects were last night being quizzed by Bradford detectives after they were arrested in a swoop involving firearms officers.

Police raids took place early yesterday at addresses in the Tong Street and Laisterdyke areas of Bradford and Rothwell in Leeds in connection with a bank robbery.

Two men, aged 22 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and a 25-year-old woman was held on suspicion of money laundering.

Last night they were in custody at Trafalgar House police station in Bradford.

But detectives are continuing to appeal for members of the public with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Steve Snow, of Bradford South CID, said: “While we have made arrests, we are at an early stage in the investigation and we continue to appeal for witnesses and information.

“There are other people outstanding we want to speak to in relation to this, and it is important that anyone who thinks they may have clues or information about this offence contacts us.”

The arrests came nearly a week after the terrifying raid at the Yorkshire Bank in Leeds Road, Laisterdyke, when staff were threatened by three robbers, armed with hammers, who escaped with a significant amount of cash.

The raiders broke through the back door of the bank, at about 11am last Friday, soon after a cash delivery had taken place.

One male worker suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The gang fled in a Toyota Avensis estate car which had been reported stolen from the Manchester area over the Christmas period. It was found abandoned and in flames in Petrie Grove, Laisterdyke, soon after the robbery.

Detective Inspector Steve Snow, of Bradford South CID, said a dedicated team of detectives was continuing to make inquiries into the robbery.

He added: “I would ask anyone with any information to contact us on 0845 6060606.”
