A 50-year-old man accused of raping a teenager with a mental age of five told a jury he could not explain why she has made the allegations.
David Bentley¸ of Bath Street, Huddersfield, denies raping the girl, now 16, at her home in the Bradford area on April 10 and 11 last year.
The Bradford Crown Court jury heard today that Bentley did not comment to questions when he was interviewed by police.
In her videotaped interview with West Yorkshire Police child protection unit, the girl said she told Bentley she did not want sex.
She claimed he told her to shut up and she said she felt sad and angry afterwards.
The jury was expected to retire tomorrow to consider its verdicts.
