A small increase in Sutton Parish Council’s precept will be used to fund a new village lengthman and new equipment at Sutton Park.

The council has decided to raise the 2010/11 precept by one per cent and has set its budget at £78,780, an increase of £780 from last year.

The council is looking to appoint a lengthman, who would be responsible for clearing footpaths and roadsides. The appointment would cost about £5,000 per year.

It is also looking at funding new equipment at the park as a £5,000 donation from a Section 106 agreement with the Greenroyd Mill developers is expected in the near future.
