Parents and schools in Keighley are being asked for their views on a plan to federate two of the town’s primary schools.
It is proposed that Ingrow Primary School and Long Lee Primary School work in partnership as a federation.
Strong links already exist between the schools. Louise Smith, head teacher at Long Lee, was appointed as executive head teacher at Ingrow to strengthen its leadership last March.
She said: “Federation is an opportunity for us to work more closely together while retaining the unique character and ethos of each school.
"Our schools have been working in partnership during the last year and the federation is seen as an opportunity to formalise these arrangements.”
Before the end of last term, the schools’ governing bodies agreed to begin the process of formalising their collaborative working and a joint strategic committee was formed.
Residents, staff, parents, other Keighley schools and teaching unions now have six weeks to respond to the proposal in a consultation exercise organised by private firm Education Bradford.
If the plans go ahead, the two schools will be federated on April 19 and will formally be known as The Ingrow and Long Lee Federation.
A public meeting to discuss the proposal will be held at Long Lee on March 8 and at Ingrow on March 9. Both events start at 6pm.
