There was a major shock in the second round of the Craven League's Wynn Cup at Thornton, Second Division Sandy Lane getting home by four wickets.

The Booth Bridge Lane side, fresh from lowering Oakworth's colours the

previous day, batted first and made 200 for six, Kev Pollard scoring 49, Mark Proctor 66 and Jason Lockley 37 as 'Wally' Akhtar took three for 28.

The latter followed this with a superb innings of 74, which, along with an

unbeaten seventh-wicket partnership of 52 by Darren Horne (40 not out) and Steve Brown (25 not out) took the visitors to a stunning victory in the 42nd over.

Bingley Congs' batters ran amok against nine-man Ingrow St John's at Beckfoot.

Waj Mahmood made 115 (12 fours, five sixes), Andy Jennings 110 (11 fours, five sixes) and Neil Copping 51 (six fours, four sixes) as the hosts walloped 329 for five.

Saints managed 136 for eight in reply, Peter Atkinson making 37 and Colin Bottomley 35 as Dan Gibson took three for 39. St John's were 136 for four before a sudden collapse.

Glusburn were on their toes at home to Wilsden, who beat Cowling in the last round.

The visitors made 141, being indebted to No 9 Ian Pierson, who reached 30, and No 10 Dale Wright, who made 26. Mark Pickles was the best of the six bowlers used, taking three for 17.

Russell Newton (69 not out) and Matt Lloyd (33) helped Glusburn to a comfortable six-wicket triumph in the 28th over.

Third Division Jimmy Nelson's transferred their game to Cure Hill and were grateful for winning the toss and batting. They made a modest 87 as Jason Bilbrough took six for 26 in 9.4 overs.

Tim Walsh (35 not out) and Michael Scarborough (34 not out) took Oakworth to an eight-wicket victory in the 22nd over.

Denholme returned empty- handed from Barrowford after being beaten by seven wickets. The visitors scored 72, Stuart Rogers making 20 as Ajmal Choudrhy claimed four for 18. Phil Poole took two for 25 for Denholme.
