A 43-year-old appeared in Court on Wednesday, charged with rape and threats to kill after police re-examined DNA evidence from a sex attack in Keighley 16 years ago.
Martin Joseph Done, of Grange Grove, Riddlesden, was arrested as part of an operation to reconsider unsolved serious sex offences following advances in DNA technology.
Done was remanded in custody when he appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court.
He will appear at Leeds Crown Court next Wednesday to face the charges, relating to offences said to have been committed on May 19, 1989.
The court ordered that nothing could be reported that would lead to the identity of the victim.
The court was told that Done had been arrested as a result of improvements in DNA techniques.
The arrest was the third made by detectives from West Yorkshire Police's homicide and major inquiry team since Operation Recall was launched in April.
A 59-year-old man from Leeds has been charged with a number of sex offences involving children in connection with a 1994 case in Leeds. He is due to appear in court later this month.
A 40-year-old Huddersfield man has also been charged with raping a 45-year-old woman in the town in 1990.
