YOUNG athletes from Hothfield Junior School at Silsden have maintained the schools running tradition by winning both boys' and girls' races at the Bradford Schools' Athletics Association's road relay championships for years 5 and 6. A total of 27 boys teams and 17 girls teams - each with four runners - took part with each runner completing a lap of just over a mile.

The Silsden boys' A team was : Harry Sessford, Ryan Pridgeon, Cameron Whitwham and Kieran Thompson. Girls: Beth Millgate, Charlotte Steel, Millie Whitaker and Emily Throup. The boys B team finished in a commendble sixth place.

During the year a total of more than 60 children take part in two out-of-schools running clubs offered weekly by the school on Monday evening and Friday afternoons.
