MARY FULLER won gold at the English National Junior Table Tennis Championships.
Twelve-year-old Mary won her gold medal in the Under-13s doubles competition with her partner, Martha Travis from Cornwall. They went through the final round without losing a game.
Mary missed out in the singles, beaten in the quarter finals by Karina Lefevre of Cleveland in four sets.
The gold has given Mary a total of five medals at the National Championships in just six years as a player, a record only bettered in the Bradford and Keighley area by Melody Ludi who won a total of nine national medals, eight golds and a silver, in the 1970's and 80's.
Mary's success is also a milestone for coach Hans Soova as Melody was the first player he had coached to gain international honours and Mary is the 24th.
The Oakbank Table Tennis Club member won a silver medal in 2003, a gold and two silvers in 2004 and gold in 2005.
