New signing Gareth Greenwood will make his Cougars debut from the bench tomorrow against Dewsbury at Cougar Park after joining the club midweek from Halifax.

The brother of London Broncos winger Lee, Green-wood is a hooker who can also play in the back row.

After finding himself behind Australian Ben Fisher in the pecking order at Halifax, Greenwood opted to join the Cougars on a month-long deal with a view to earning an extension.

"Gareth is too good a player not to be playing regular first-team football," said coach Gary Moorby.

"I've guaranteed him a place on the bench tomorrow and told him that after that it is up to him.

"He is really looking forward to playing and is up for the challenge."

Moorby was an interested spectator when Dewsbury went down 24-31 at home to Sheffield last Sunday and the Cougars boss believes his side have nothing to fear tomorrow.

"It was a surprising result

on paper but, to be honest,

the first half was completely dominated by Sheffield," he said.

"Dewsbury hit a purple patch in the second half where they scored three tries in 15 minutes to bring it back to level pegging but Sheffield then went on to win it.

"After seeing that I feel confident we can get a result."

Livewire back rower Jordan Ross may return to Moorby's 17 after a lengthy absence but prop Danny Ekis' comeback has been put back to next week.

Dewsbury's line-up boasts a host of former Super League players including Ryan Sheridan, Francis Maloney, Darren Rogers and Warren Jowett.

But they have not always lived up to their reputations, most notably when Dewsbury were belted 74-12 by York in round four.

"On paper Dewsbury must be among the leading contenders, but they are not really achieving their expectations," said Moorby.

"It just proves that you can sign who you want to but they have got to perform week-in week-out.

"We've done our homework on them as we do every week and hopefully we'll be ready to go."

The biggest concern facing Moorby is his side's relative inactivity after a spell of just two matches in six weeks. "I wouldn't say I'm worried but it doesn't help," he said.

"All we can do is make sure we have done plenty of work with the ball and that is what we have done this week.

"It's the little areas that have been letting us down, but we are trying get a little more expansive as well.

"We've structured things so that certain players have certain roles and I've made it very clear exactly how I want people to play and what is expected of them.

"It will be over to them at three o'clock tomorrow."
