Middlesbrough youngster Andrew Taylor was today sealing a loan move to City.

Taylor, who turns 19 on August 1, has agreed a one-year switch, although Boro will have a recall option after six months in case of injuries.

The left back will link up with the Bantams later this month at the end of the European Under-19 Champion-ships.

He is in an 18-man England squad for the tournament in Northern Ireland, which kicks off with a game against France in 12 days' time.

Bantams boss Colin Todd said: "The deal has been given the green light. All it needs is the two club secretaries to finalise the details.

"The boy has got a tremendous

pedigree. What he does need is first-team football and hopefully he can fulfil his potential at our club.

"I'm not worried that he is untried at the top level because so was Steven Schumacher and we've seen how well he has done.

"This is a great opportunity for the player and I would look upon this as

a step in the right direction for ourselves."

Taylor, who has four under-19 caps, is yet to feature in a senior game at Boro, although he was in the squad against Bolton in April last year.

He was restricted last season after suffering an ankle injury in an

academy game in October.

The Hartlepool-born teenager can play left back or centre half, but he played on the left side of midfield when Boro won the FA Youth Cup in 2004.

He will be City's fifth summer

capture after Russell Howarth, Danny Cadamarteri, Bobby Petta and Damion Stewart - but there could still be room for at least one more addition to the squad.

Meanwhile, new trainee Damian Hopkins has been called up by Wales under-17 coach Brian Flynn for a three-day training camp in Swansea.

The session is a build-up for next month's double header against Ukraine in Kiev.
