A new report outlining steps Bradford Council could take to reduce its carbon footprint has been produced to coincide with the international climate change summit in Copenhagen.
The Council’s Carbon Management document was produced for its environment and waste management improvement committee and contains a number of recommendations for reducing the local authority’s damage to the environment.
The launch of the report also coincides with the publication of a glowing Ofsted report on Lower Fields Primary School, in Fenby Avenue, Bowling, which praises its efforts with pupils on the environment.
Committee chairman Councillor Ghazanfer Khaliq said: “This report is a timely snapshot of the key areas of Council activity which are central to carbon management.”
“The Council should be applauded for the ambitious way that it has begun to review its carbon management.”
John Edwards, headteacher at Lower Fields, said. “We were delighted with the findings in our Ofsted inspection. It is a testament to the dedication and hard work of all members of the Lower Fields Primary School community that inspectors judged the school as ‘good’ and praised many aspects of our work.”
The school has a garden where pupils grow their own food, which fits into Bradford Council’s b-someone campaign. One of the themes of the campaign encourages adults to lead healthy, sustainable lives by getting them involved in food production.
