It’s panto time in Bradford again – and there’s a diva waiting in the wings ready to upstage Billy Pearce during tomorrow’s opening night.
At just 3ft high, MOOnbeam the cow is making her pantomime debut in Jack And The Beanstalk, which starts a two-month run tomorrow. The real-life cow will star opposite Bradford’s favourite funnyman Billy, playing Jack, Leeds actress Gaynor Faye, playing his sweetheart Jill, former Crossroads star Tony Adams as Dame Trot, and Leanne Jones, Olivier Award-winning star of the West End production of Hairspray, as the Fairy.
Yorkshire’s biggest panto features lavish sets, including a larger-than-life beanstalk with an enormous giant at the top. Executive producer Jon Conway says: “Each year we bring an element of surprise to the panto and Jack And The Beanstalk will be no different.”
Last year’s Alhambra pantomime, Cinderella, was the theatre’s most successful yet, making more than £1 million.
Jack And The Beanstalk runs at the Alhambra from tomorrow to January 31. For tickets, ring (01274) 432000.
