Two drink and drug-fuelled robbers ripped off a man’s jewellery and torched his BMW after car-jacking it in a Bradford alley, a Court heard.
Amir Khan, 21, and Sharaz Khan, 18, were each locked up for two years at Bradford Crown Court yesterday.
The pair befriended Samir Amin at The Cube nightclub in Ivegate, Bradford, before luring him down a dead end in his uncle’s car.
Mr Amin was threatened with a crook lock by the robbers who pulled out his earring, ripped off his gold chain and stole his phone. They drove off in the BMW and torched it on Fagley Road, prosecutor John Topham told the court.
Amir Khan, of Hops Lane, Wheatley, Halifax, and Sharaz Khan, of Butler Street, Barkerend, Bradford, pleaded guilty to robbing Mr Amin in the early hours of August 9 this year.
Mr Topham said it was Amir Khan’s fourth conviction for robbery. In 2006, he committed a robbery in Peel Park, Bradford, and the following year he threatened to strangle a man in Prospect Road, Undercliffe, Bradford, before robbing him.
The court heard the defendants had been drinking and snorting cocaine before robbing Mr Amin.
Amir Khan warned him: “We’re off our faces, don’t mess about.”
Sharaz Khan pulled him from the car and kicked him.
Sharaz Khan threatened to put Mr Amin in the car boot before torching it. The car was destroyed when it was set alight behind a disused pub.
Tahir Khan, for Amir Khan, said drink and drugs played a part in the robbery.
Khan was remorseful and wanted to lead a decent and law-abiding life.
Sharaz Khan had no previous convictions for robbery.
He was using his time in custody to improve his education, the court was told.
Amir Khan was sent to prison and Sharaz Khan to a young offender institution.
Judge Alistair McCallum branded it “a very unpleasant robbery”, fuelled by drink, and perhaps drugs, when a weapon was used.
He told Sharaz Khan: “You entered serious crime at the deep end.”
A third man who took part in the robbery was not before the court.
