A total of 80 Scouts ranging from six to 18 have slept out over the weekend to experience homelessness and support a homeless charity.
The Scouts took boxes to build a cardboard city in Horsforth as their shelter for the night. They also ran a soup kitchen to feed all the participants and lit a brazier to combat the cold.
A number of previously homeless residents from homeless charity Emmaus Leeds joined the event during the evening to talk to the Scouts and Cubs about their experience of being homeless and about the issues surrounding not having somewhere safe to live.
Sunday’s Church Parade also centred around homelessness with a video message from Terry Waite, president of Emmaus UK.
