Anyone still devoid of a festive glow could hardly have failed to embrace the Christmas spirit in a Bradford village this weekend.
Everything you needed was available at the fifth annual Clayton Dickensian Market.
Families filled the tarmac around Victoria Park from 11am until 5pm on Saturday, stopping at stalls where traders, the majority of whom were volunteers, sold wares in aid of charitable causes.
There were homemade cakes, chutneys and jams, candles and arts and crafts.
Energetic performances saw spectators to gather at a lorry-come-stage, where Bradford South MP Gerry Sutcliffe officially opened the event, crowning the Snow Queen Ellie Britton and her two attendants April Middleton and Emily Swales.
The Peace Artists jazz band and morris dancers were among the entertainers as conditions stayed crisp and dry.
The 28-strong organising committee – many local businessmen and women – hope to raise close to previous fundraising heights of around £9,000, to be split between Marie Curie Cancer Care and children’s cancer charities.
The latter was a poignant choice for Linda Maloney. A Clayton resident for 30 years, her daughter and two grandchildren have been treated for a form of eye cancer.
Jean McGann, chairman of the organising body, said: “Clayton village is a community and this is just part of that – it’s something this event highlights every year.
In Bradford city centre there was an array of Christmas stalls in Darley Street.
