Haworth Torchlight Procession Weekend next Saturday and Sunday is an annual favourite for many. Saturday is Candlemas Eve, when Santa and Mrs Claus will lead the torchlight procession (pictured) down Main Street accompanied by the Holly Queen, Morris dancers, choirs and bands. The procession starts at the top of Main Street at 3pm. Sunday’s Torchlight Procession starts at 5.15pm, with hundreds of torch and lantern bearers winding their way up Main Street to the Parish Church.
Tomorrow, the Bolton Abbey estate is hosting a Christmas Magic event with Father Christmas from 10am to 3pm. It is advisable to book tickets, which cost £3.50, on (01756) 718009.
There’s a Christmas Nativity and Santa’s Grotto at St Leonard’s Farm Park, Esholt, tomorrow from 10am to 4pm, with a sherry and mince pie reception. Every child will receive a present from Santa at the grotto in the sheep and goat barn. Admission is £9.95 for adults and £11.95 for children, and pre-booking is essential.
By tomorrow, volunteers will have decorated Nostell Priory house near Wakefield for Christmas. Enjoy mulled wine in the servants’ hall, and schools and choirs with entertainment in the top hall. Next weekend, children can visit Santa’s winter wonderland from 11.30am to 3.30pm.
Pick the best in fair trade produce and local arts and crafts in Shipley Market Place next Friday and Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Stalls will include organic, natural and deli food, herbal products, wooden toys and games, handmade soaps, body and animal care products. Choose from a range of silver and crystal jewellery, semi-precious stones, wall hangings, beaded cushion covers, shawls, hats and scarves. While in Shipley, you can also step back in time with Yarn Spinners Tours on a guided heritage walk telling tales of old Shipley.
Saltaire Vintage Home & Fashion Fair at Victoria Hall next Saturday has stalls including vintage frocks, furniture, coats, china, glassware, jewellery, handbags, mirrors, hats, shoes, toys and tins, along with hand-made treasures created by local artists, from vintage fabrics to furniture. There will be music from the Twenties to the Sixties, and refreshments will be available.
