A Bradford sex offender was today found in Liverpool - a week after absconding from a psychiatric hospital.
Mohammed Rafiq Passwala, 52, was picked up after a nationwide appeal was mounted by police when he failed to return to Fieldhead Hospital, Wakefield, from unsupervised leave.
He was found in Liverpool at about 3.45pm today by West Yorkshire Police officers working for the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
He was detained under the Mental Health Act and will be assessed before being transported back to West Yorkshire later today, said a West Yorkshire Police spokesman.
Police had warned that Passwala, who was convicted of sex offences in 1996, was a danger to women and young children.
