Murder squad detectives hunting a gang who killed a father in a suspected botched robbery are quizzing a woman and a teenager.
The 17-year-old man was arrested in Wibsey this morning and is being questioned in connection with the murder of the 42-year-old Thai national, who died from a single stab wound to the chest after being attacked at his terraced home in Little Horton Lane, Canterbury, Bradford.
The 35-year-old woman was arrested in Huddersfield and is being quizzed on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
The victim, who has not been formally identified, was stabbed in front of his 40-year-old heavily-pregnant girlfriend in a targeted attack. A female family friend was also present when the gang struck, at about 1am on Monday.
Two men armed with knives went inside the house while two others remained outside.
The suspects fled down an alley towards Little Horton Lane and the victim staggered into his back yard where he collapsed and died.
The house had been used as a brothel and detectives believe the murder was the result of a robbery that went wrong.
The dead man came into the UK on a five-year work permit in early 2008 and had lived at the Little Horton Lane address with his girlfriend for about two months.
He had been working as head chef at a restaurant in Huddersfield but had recently lost his job.
Police are working with the Thai Embassy and Consulate to contact relatives of the victim in Thailand, where he is understood to have a wife and two children.
Officers are continuing to search for the murder weapon, a large kitchen knife. They are also studying CCTV footage for clues to the suspects.
Detective Superintendent Dave Pervin, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, described the attack as “brutal and vicious”.
Police are hunting four Asian men, in their late teens or early 20s, who were seen in and around the area immediately before the attack.
They were wearing dark sports clothing, possibly hoodies, and two had beanie hats pulled down over their faces.
