Five men are due to appear in court on Friday in connection with the large-scale theft of metal from the former High Royds Hospital site at Menston.
A 39-year-old from Yeadon and a 32-year-old from Burley-in-Wharfedale have been charged with theft. A 28-year-old from Otley and two 34-year-olds from Leeds are accused of handling stolen goods.
The men were arrested following a police investigation into the theft and handling of metal, principally alleged to be lead from the roof of the Grade 2 listed former hospital building, between July and November.
The five are due to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court.
