A new art gallery has opened in Silsden’s Kirkgate.

The Projecto Gallery originally started out in 2004 as a web design business by Paula Baker-Parkin.

The object of the gallery is to sell contemporary photography not exhibited before in the UK.

Most of the works on show come from countries such as China, Venezuala, India, Japan, Italy and Germany.

“Not a single piece of our work is exhibited anywhere else in the UK, and only two elsewhere in the world,” Paula Baker-Parkin, 26, said.

“I am very web-savvy, trained in art and am a keen photographer; I know where to look for fresh and exciting photographers on the internet.

“People nowadays want their art to match their home. I’ve sourced and priced the works to reflect that, with most pieces costing under £60.”

Projecto also sells jewellery by designers from the UK and abroad.

In the New Year, Paula, who studied visual communications at the Institute of Art and Design in Birmingham, plans to offer on-site training in design, photography and jewellery-making to adults and children.
