Dog walkers at Hirst Wood near Saltaire have been so full of the festive spirit, they have extended goodwill to all dogs as well as men.
A tree close to the main path through the well-known beauty spot has been festooned with well-wishing cards from canines to other canines.
“Many happy sniffs” and “hope you have paws for thought this Christmas” were just some of the dog-friendly greetings left hanging from the branches.
Dog owner Pearl Brown, who was visiting with her two dogs, said she thought the tree was a lovely idea and not at all “barking mad”.
Mrs Brown, who lives in Silsden, said: “I think it’s lovely.
“You make lots of friends when you’re out with the dogs, the humans get to know each other and so do the dogs – so why shouldn’t they send each other cards.”
Walker Barry Jones said: “It’s just a bit of fun I suppose but it’s not the kind of thing I’d do.”
Another dog walker said a Christmas card had been tied to a bush at the top of Shipley Glen, attached to a doggy bag.
“The carrier was full of dog toys, tuggers and balls that kind of thing. The card just said Merry Christmas and help yourself – which people did because the bag’s empty now!”
