Newlyweds Martyn and Kelly Lewis celebrated their wedding in style when they had a ride on the big wheel in Centenary Square following their marriage at Bradford City Hall.
The couple, of Birkenshaw, were joined on the wheel by dozens of their guests on Saturday.
Mr Lewis, 30, said the couple had been invited to celebrate their wedding in the unusual style by Bradford Council. He said: “When the Council asked us if we wanted to do it we thought it was a great idea and it would fit in perfectly with our day. It was fantastic as well – although we didn’t expect it to be that cold!”
The couple can expect a warmer climate for their honeymoon – in Dubai.
Mrs Lewis, 29, said the ambience of City Hall – a listed building – made it a perfect wedding venue. She said: “We have always lived in Bradford and City Hall is such a beautiful building.”
Warren James, of Giant Attractions which runs the wheel, said it was the first time it had been used for a wedding celebration. He said: “We have had somebody propose on the wheel before. I’m sure it is quite romantic though.”
The wheel will remain until Sunday.
