Members of Bradford’s Pakistani community came together in tribute to mark the first anniversary of the death of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Citations were read out from the Koran at the home of Asif Naseem Rothor, president of the Bradford Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), where about 50 people gathered on Saturday.
Miss Bhutto and her family visited Bradford many times and her absence has left a void.
December 27 marked a year to the day that she was killed in a gun and bomb terrorist attack at an election rally in the city of Rawalpindi.
Councillor Ghazanfer Khaliq (Lab, Bradford Moor), one of the PPP members at the gathering described Miss Bhutto as “a strong woman who fought for democracy”.
