More than 300 children performed at a cheerleading presentation marking a year since the school was set up by former Neighbours actor Robyn Morrison.

Panache Cheerleading school was started in February at Richard Dunn Sports Centre by Robyn who played policewoman Terri Hall in the Australian soap.

The classes are supported by Bradford Council’s b active campaign to encourage people of all ages and abilities to take part in more exercise.

A handful of girls attended the first sessions but more than 400 children from 40 schools in the Bradford district now attend weekly.

To mark Panache’s success the evening featured performances from all junior, senior and competitive Panache squads followed by presentations.

Robyn’s husband, Bradford Bulls star Glen Morrison was on hand to help hand out the prizes.

Mrs Morrison said: “The evening was all about getting the cheerleaders together and to show off their skills and also recognise all the hard work they have put in.

“Our growth has been incredible and it shows our classes are really fun and popular and we are delighted to be supporting Bradford Council’s b active campaign and getting more youngsters involved in physical activity.”

The Council’s executive member for environment and culture, Councillor Anne Hawkesworth, said: “Our b active campaign is all about targeting hard to reach groups such as young children and encouraging them to take part in more physical activity regardless of their ability and the Panache classes have done this with great results.”
