A man was injured when he smashed head-first through the window of a door and became trapped last night.
Firefighters were called to the scene and performed a delicate operation to free the man, who was embedded in the broken window.
Ambulance crews and police were also called to the incident, which happened in a block of flats in Sunnybank Grange, Brighouse, at about 10pm.
The man, thought to be aged in his mid-20s, was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Firefighters said one of his ears was badly cut. They had to painstakingly knock out more glass to free him, being careful not to cause further injuries.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We were called at about 10.30pm to assist the fire service after a male got stuck in a door."
Police said initial reports suggested there had earlier been a fracas in the area involving a group of youths.
"But when we arrived there were no youths around and it was not clear what had happened," said the police spokesman.
