A primary school teacher has taught her last lesson after more than 25 years dedicated to the profession.
Rama Sharma has retired from Lilycroft Primary in Manningham, having taught hundreds of pupils in Bradford since she emigrated from India in 1972.
She started her teaching career at Farnham Language Centre and soon moved to Lilycroft, where she became both maths and Key Stage 2 co-ordinator.
At the end of more than two decades teaching youngsters in Manningham, she said it was emotional to call time on her career. Mrs Sharma said: “I really enjoyed working in this school, everybody is so helpful and I feel upset to be leaving. I’ve given all my energy to this school.”
Reflecting on one of her favourite moments, she said: “I started taking children on trips to the seaside and one year, a girl in Year 2 looked at the sea and asked me “who left the tap on?”
She said she would take some time to relax but may use her retirement as an opportunity to take up photography.
