A drug dealer who continued to ply his trade while wanted by the courts has been jailed for six years.

Jahangeir Ahmed was caught with 400 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine when officers arrested him for failing to turn up to be sentenced for an earlier drugs offence.

Prosecutor Duncan Ritchie said it was estimated Ahmed had made £30,000 from class A drug dealing.

Ahmed, 32, of Winston Terrace, Great Horton, Bradford, admitted doing up to 28 deals a day.

Ikram Hussain, 36, of Eldercroft Road, Lidget Green, Bradford, appeared in the dock with Ahmed at Bradford Crown Court today.

Hussain was Ahmed’s driver on August 16 last year when they were caught with £462 of heroin and crack cocaine in Manningham.

Hussain was sentenced to 51 weeks’ imprisonment suspended for two years, with supervision and 150 hours of unpaid work.

Mr Ritchie said Ahmed pleaded guilty to the joint offence in June but failed to appear at Bradford Crown Court for sentence the next month.

The wraps were found in his car when he was arrested at his home on August 29.

Ahmed admitted possessing drugs with intent to supply, supplying drugs and possessing criminal property.

Mr Ritchie said Ahmed was a “three strikes” drug dealer who committed the third offence on bail.

His barrister, Giles Bridge, said Ahmed was under pressure to store the wraps. Now drug free, he wanted to make a fresh start away from Bradford.
