The last commission for HMS Eagle (1969-72) is holding a nautical extravaganza weekend reunion in the Northern Hotel Aberdeen from May 15 to May 17.

Following on from their last two brilliant and well-attended annual events, all ‘Eaglets’, wives, partners and guests are welcome. Meet and greet is on Friday followed by a choice of tours on Saturday with a nautical dinner/dance in the evening with entertainment. Details for the Sunday are still to be finalised.

On this Day in 1943 Ortona in Italy was taken by the Allies as they advanced. The Canadians were the first of the Eighth Army troops to enter the coastal town on December 23 and the enemy retreat to the Adriatic Coast began.
