Students at Yorkshire Martyrs Catholic College, Tong, have been learning about homelessness as well as taking part in a charity’s Christmas food appeal.
Staff from the Bradford City Centre Project (BCCP), a charity for young people aged 16 to 25 in housing need, have visited the school to raise awareness of homelessness.
In return, pupils have collected food and clothes for the charity.
BCCP director Jed Din said: “We ran a few training sessions for students to be aware of homelessness for young people, what they need to know about their rights and what happens if you find yourself homeless. They have put out an appeal and gathered lots of clothing and parcels for us to use with our service-users throughout the city.
“I know that we have distributed about 12 to 15 boxes for collections and the students have collected quite a lot for us.”
Yorkshire Martyrs PE teacher Steve Bishop said: “The work BCCP do with 16 to 25-year-olds is something the students can often relate to.”
